About Pinnawala

Pinnawala is one of Sri Lanka’s most visited attractions. Established in 1975, it serves as an orphanage and breeding ground for wild elephants. The highlight of any visit is watching the herd of over 80 elephants walk through the village streets to bathe in the Ma Oya river.
