About Hikkaduwa Marine Sanctuary
Hikkaduwa was the first area in Sri Lanka to be declared a marine sanctuary. It is world-renowned for its shallow coral gardens and several diveable shipwrecks, including the SS Conch (an oil tanker) and the Earl of Shaftesbury. It is also famous for the giant sea turtles that swim right up to the shore to be fed by visitors.
